PADI Scuba Diving Qualifications

Scuba diving is essential to underwater survey work conducted on most of our marine research programmes. Our minimum standard required for all marine participants is PADI Advanced Open Water or BSAC Sports Diver.
Free Dive Training!
Frontier is a registered PADI Educational Facility (s32482) and employs a Dive Officer (trained to Dive Instructor level) and a Divemaster at most marine camps. If you have not dived before our professional dive officers can train and qualify you in the field up to PADI Advanced Open Water for free! This is worth around £475 if you were to do it in the UK.
You will need to undertake a try-dive before you deploy to ensure that you are happy with basic skills before undertaking the training overseas. Arrange with a local dive shop to do this and let them know you're diving for a good cause - they might let you do it for free!
To qualify for PADI Open Water you will learn the fundamentals of SCUBA diving, including how to use and maintain dive equipment. You need to complete five confined dives and knowledge development sessions, and then make a further four open water dives.
To qualify for PADI Advanced Open Water, you must complete some additional specialized dives.
Our dive professionals can also train you up to PADI Divemaster, time and location permitting. For a small fee you can complete your PADI Rescue Diver, PADI Emergency First Response, and PADI Divemaster qualification under the supervision of top dive experts in a beautiful marine environment!
Our prices are unbeatable:
PADI Divemaster - £340
PADI Rescue Diver - £170
PADI Emergency First Response - £85 (Required to enrol in PADI Rescue Diver)
You can only train up to PADI Divemaster once your ability is assessed by the Dive Officer in-country, and if you are enrolled on the Frontier project for sufficient time.
