About Frontier: Conservation and Development NGO
Background & Mission: Who is Frontier? Find out more about the Frontier ethos.
Why Frontier?: Why are we the UK's number one conservation and development non-profit? Why are we the first choice for volunteering abroad on your gap year, career break or holiday? Why do many of our volunteers go on to have successful careers in conservation and development, as paid staff on our projects and with other international conservation organisations? Why do a growing number of schools, colleges, universities and groups choose to create tailor-made expeditions with Frontier to learn about conservation, wildlife, communities and expedition management?
Achievements: As an international conservation NGO we - with the invaluable help of our volunteers - have successfully produced many tangible conservation and development achievements, including biodiversity research and community development projects, with over 500 publications in both peer-reviewed journals and the in-house Frontier Environmental Report Series.In-country partners: We are closely linked to the countries we operate in through host-country partnerships with academic institutions, government departments and local NGOSs, with a permanent presence at the locations of our long-term conservation and development projects.
Qualifications: We offer unique vocational accredited BTEC qualifications - the Tropical Habitat Conservation Diploma is taught and assessed at a similar level to an A Level and the Tropical Habitat Conservation Certificate and Expedition Management certificate are taught and assessed at a similar level to AS Levels, as well as PADI diving (Advanced Open Water included in marine expeditions with options to train up to Divemaster) and TEFL training and certificate.
