With marginalised communities around the world in need of the time and manpower that volunteers are able to provide in order to develop their communities and work towards a more secure future, community development projects are the perfect way to make a lasting and definite contribution to the community you will become a part of.
What to do on your community development project
The scope for the work you could be involved in is almost endless. You will be encouraged to use your own experiences and skills and explore your own interests, as well as contribute to the inevitably wide ranging work that will be available.
You could find yourself building or renovating a new or existing village school, carrying out painting or maintenance work or even building or repairing school chairs and desks. On a different note, projects to improve drainage and water purification and access are critically important for ongoing community health and could involve digging wells and drainage systems.
General infrastructural and developmental projects will contribute to the facilities and amenities that are essential to enable communities to secure the safe provision of a long term future. Whatever the nature of your work, the very fact that you will be leaving the project safe in the knowledge that your efforts are both appreciated and worthwhile will change your outlook on life.
